LF101 Amur Maple Acer Ginnala

A good hedge plant for zones 2-8, grows in most soils in sun and partial shade. A deciduous plant with dazzling fall colors. Space plants about 2 ft. apart. Acer seeds are slow to germinate and it may be the second year before you can transplant seedlings outside.

LF104 Barberry Berberis sp.

A good fence plant with dense foliage and loads of bright red fruits in fall that attracts birds. Beautiful orange foliage in fall as well. Grows to a height of 4-6 ft. in most soils and does well in full sun to partial shade. For zones 5-9. You will need to prune these 2 or 3 times a year to keep them from sprawling. Space plants 1-2 ft. apart.

LF108 Russian Olive Elaegnus angustifolia

Makes a good hedge that can reach 15 ft. tall. Grows well in most soils in zones 2-9. Bears attractive silver-gray foliage and is loaded with tiny, fragrant yellow flowers in Spring. Space 2-3 ft. apart. Requires full sun.

LF114 Rose of Sharon Hibiscus syriacus

A good hedge, reaching 6-12 ft., that is loaded with flowers in late summer and fall. Needs moist, but well drained soil and can grow in full sun or partial shade in zones 5-9. Plants should be pruned back heavily in winter. Space plants 2-3 ft. apart.

LF118 Amur Privet Hedge Ligustrum amurense

This is probably the best know privet hedge. Fast growing with tiny, dark green, shiny leaves. Grows in almost all soils, in full sun or partial shade. Can grow to 15 ft., but is best kept pruned to smaller size. Grows in zones 4-9. Space plants 1-2 ft. apart.

LF122 Japanese Rose Rosa rugosa

Excellent flowering hedge for zones 3-9. Grows to 7 ft. tall in full sun and requires well drained soil. Spines make an effective barrier and plants produce loads of healthy orange hips in fall. Space plants 2 ft. apart. Seeds need 60 days cold treatment before sowing.

LF127 Boxwood Buxus sempervirens

A dense evergreen foliage plant good for zones 4-10, prefers moist soil and can be grown in sun or shade. A favorite hedge plant for years. Slow growing and long lived. Space plants 1 ft. apart.

LF132 Japanese Yew Taxus cuspidata

Good evergreen hedge for zones 4-8. Prefers moist, but well drained soils. Can reach a height of 20 ft. in sun or partial shade. A very durable hedge with flat, soft needles and bright berries in fall. Space plants 2-4 ft.. apart.

LF134 American Aborvitae Thuja occidentalis

A good formal hedge growing to 20 ft. in zones 2-8. Requires moist soil and will grow in sun to partial shade. Foliage is soft, bright green needles. It is a slow growing hedge that requires little maintenance. Space plants 2 ft. apart.
